Canva is by far my most used tool when I am creating visuals for my blog, work, or Pinterest. Canva can literally do it all- share templates, schedule pins, design social media posts, ore presentations. This is a list of tips and tricks that I have learned over the last year.
Here are my top 8 Canva tips that will save you time and help you become a Canva pro.
- Utilize templates! There is no need to reinvent the wheel when Canva has a TON of free templates to use as a starting point. Once you start using Canva- you will be able to see who is using the templates and not changing a thing. I would recommend changing up the templates a bit. Pinterest is a visual search engine so get creative!
- Start a Brand Kit. These are so easy to create thanks to Canva. It is a huge time save to be able to add your logo, brand colors and fonts to your Brand Kit to be able to stay on brand with your designs.
- Creating 5-10 templates is a huge time saver! That way you can use when you’re ready to pin new content. You don’t have to design something new every time but change things up a bit here and there with a new photo or text overlay.
- Look at other templates for design inspo. There are a lot of great templates with fresh designs that often go overlooked if they aren’t in the category you’re used to looking at. They can easily be switched to the dimensions you need them for.
- Make use of folders. I did not do this when I started, and I paid for it… it took several hours for me to organize that cluster f*ck.
- You can connect your Pinterest account and pin directly from Canva. Canva is an approved third-party scheduler, scheduling directly within it won’t hurt you in the algorithm.
- Use long tail keywords related to your pin when you name your Canva files. It can help your pins in the algorithm.
- Size guides are one of the greatest things gifted to us on Canva. They help make sure that your designs are the correct dimensions. You can search under the ‘create a design’ to find the correct dimensions for whatever you are looking to create.
